Bar Dancers’ ‘Obscene’ Performance at Khereshwar Mahadev Temple During Dev Chhath Fair

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) – A major controversy has erupted after videos surfaced showing bar dancers performing at the historic Khereshwar Mahadev Temple during the Dev Chhath fair. The dancers, some reportedly of foreign origin, were seen performing in what many have described as an “obscene” manner on a stage set up inside the temple premises.

According to locals, while cultural programmes have been part of the Dev Chhath fair for years, this time organisers allegedly hired bar dancers instead. Videos circulating on social media show organisers and crowds openly enjoying the performances, sparking massive criticism.

Devotees and locals have accused the organisers of hurting religious sentiments by allowing such shows in a sacred space. “This is playing with our culture and faith. Such programmes must be opposed in temples,” one agitated devotee said.

The videos have gone viral online, with many netizens even dubbing the act as “Russian Mujra at the temple.” The incident has triggered widespread anger, and demands are growing for strict action against the organisers.
