Remember 9/11 24 Years Later

September 11th, 2001: I was seven months pregnant with my firstborn, my daughter, and had spent the night before in the hospital with a severe kidney infection. That morning, I was sitting on the couch at my mom’s house, brushing my hair, and watching the news when the first plane hit the Tower.

I was married at the tender age of only 17, witnessing terror unfold live on television, yet I was preparing to bring an innocent child into this world. Today, I’m proud to say that daughter is a beautiful part of my life.

Twenty-four years have passed since that fateful day, yet September 11th remains etched in my memory as though the world stopped in slow motion. The images, the sounds, the heartache: they replay in my mind each year like a film on repeat, unshakable and vivid. I can never forget. The weight of that day is carried in my core, a somber reminder of fragility, courage, and the enduring power of remembrance.

Today, I pause to honor the lives lost, the bravery of first responders, and the resilience of all who were touched by that tragedy.

Let us never forget. May we continue to stand together, side by side, supporting one another and this country we call home. 💛
