Jesus calls Levi, the least likely of candidates to follow him. Why does he chose Levi of all people, and why does Levi leave behind his old life and everything he knew to follow Jesus? This passage reveals that God chooses the unlikely, not because of any perceived greatness, but because of His grace. We also see Jesus dining with the sinners, and when confronted by the Pharisees we see the heart of Jesus' mission: He came not for the righteous, but for the sick.
