There is a verse I keep returning to this morning: Colossians 3:1 — "Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ to a new life, sharing in his resurrection from the dead, keep seeking the things that are above." That word keep is active; it implies persistence. It isn’t enough to have a moment with Jesus. You are called to remain. Remain in the Vine. Remain in His presence. Remain in His voice.

We are living in a season where many are attempting to find nourishment in places outside of Christ. The Lord is drawing his sons and daughters back into the fellowship of the Vine. He is thundered this call: "Abide in 2025." He is looking for people who will come and sit at His feet— not to substitute the voice of another branch for the Vine itself, but to drink straight from the source.

The Vine and the Branches: What Remaining Looks Like

Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches." That means everything—fruit, sap, instruction, and life—flow from Him to us. We are branches, not the Vine. Where true communion has been traded for familiarity, God is restoring reverence. He is reinstating the fear of the Lord around friendship with Him. He wants us to hear, see, and perceive in a deeper way than ever before.

Discernment: False Prophets, Substitutes, and the Danger of Seeking Branches

We are warned in Scripture about counterfeit voices that tickle ears. Jeremiah confronts those who prophesy peace when the Lord has not sent them. There will be many voices prophesying comfort and false security. The people who receive those voices can only be deceived if they consent to deception; the remedy is simple—return to the Vine.

"Come to the Vine, not to another branch."

Prophets, teachers, authors, and ministry leaders can confirm what the Vine is already saying to you. They are not substitutes for your own sitting at His feet. If you are ignoring the Vine and searching the branches for direction, you are in danger of receiving secondhand nourishment that may be contaminated.

Discernment is not a checkbox; it is the fruit of intimacy. The more you sit with Him, the more your hearing sharpens. You will be able to tell true frequency from false. God is tuning ears and hearts to His frequency.

There are vivid dreams and open visions, tears of conviction, and moments when God brought powerful images to the heart—masks coming off powerful people, the clear removal of deception. The call to abide is simple to state and demanding in practice. Here are practical steps you can begin today to graft yourself into the Vine more deeply:

Sit at His feet daily: Even fifteen to twenty minutes of focused, undistracted time with the Lord will transform your hearing.
Practice silence and listening: Put away the phone, stop the noise, and ask Jesus a question. Wait. He will answer.
Refuse to use prophets as substitutes: Use them to confirm what God has already said, but don't replace your time with God.
Develop spiritual muscle: Practice small acts of obedience to the Lord’s promptings so when the day of crisis comes, you obey instantly.
Pray for discernment: Ask for the spirit of discernment and wisdom; the Lord promises to give it to those who fear Him.
Worship and thanksgiving: These activities root you in His presence and protect your heart from fear.

Abiding is not legalistic; it is relational. It’s going to Him, not to a list of rules. It’s choosing communion over performance.

Encouragement: Why This Is Good News

This is actually good news. The pruning and shaking are not punishment; they are preparation. A deeper dependence on Jesus will unlock unprecedented fruitfulness, power, and joy. He’s not taking things away to punish you—He’s refining you to receive more of Himself.

There is also a hopeful, practical side to the season: leaders are being exposed, prayer is being restored in public settings, and young people who stand for the truth are being celebrated and empowered. The Lord is raising up courage, and He is restoring righteousness bit by bit, both in families and nations.

Conclusion: Choose the Vine Today

Friends, the Lord’s eyes are roaming the earth looking for those who will abide. He wants you grounded in Him so you can recognize the masquerade when it arises, so you can walk in authority when the enemy comes, and so you can bear fruit for a hungry world. Do not trade intimacy for a spectacle. Choose the Vine.

Come. Sit at His feet. Pray for boldness and discernment. Allow the Lord to prune and restore. If you will abide, He will abide. You will be fortified in spirit, equipped in wisdom, and filled with supernatural peace in the storms ahead. The call is simple: remain in Me. Remain in Me.
