The world lacks space for waste, and nowhere is this more acute than in the United States, where thousands of landfills are already overflowing. In the US alone, a staggering 268 million tons of waste are discarded annually, accounting for 12% of the planet's total waste. And this figure is growing.

In the hills of Orange County, California, lies the ninth largest landfill in the United States—the Frank R. Bowman Landfill. It is part of an elite group of the country's largest landfills, known as the “Millionaire's Club” because of the enormous amount of waste that arrives there each year.

Every day, up to 750 trucks line up to deliver thousands of tons. And it's not as simple as just dumping everything into the ground. In this documentary, we show the people who work at the landfill, using cutting-edge technology — from drones to dozens of megaton machines — to make it all disappear. The stakes are high—both for business and the environment—as this facility can generate $70 billion a year.
