Arborist, Norm Oberson examines a 400-year-old Douglas Fir tree, recently cut down in Vancouver's Stanley Park. Standing dead the Doulas Fir appeared to be sound, a valuable wildlife tree in the forest ecology.

Stanley Park Preservation Society is a British Columbia registered nonprofit organization founded in 2024 for the purpose of protecting Stanley Park from irreparable harm caused by politicians acting without evidence-based scientific justification. The Society accepts donations to offset legal costs, promotes a public petition, and maintains a mail list.
