Elite Overproduction and the Modern Crisis

When there are too many elite aspirants and not enough elite jobs, we get a serious problem in society.

Elite Overproduction occurs in the bureaucratic, money-oriented stage of a culture's life cycles. When the currency of the social hierarchy is money and bureaucratic credentials, anyone and everyone can compete for cushy elite jobs simply by going to college. The production class dwindles and the administrative class grows, however, administrative industries do not grow with the population. The social pyramid becomes top heavy and frustrated elite aspirants who did not get the cushy jobs and money they were promised end up doing really stupid things to secure wealth and power, the most common of which is instigating communist-style revolutions and purges.
