Turning the Dark Starburst

In this woodturning adventure, I rescue a heavy, wet piece of wood from the trash pile at my local mantle shop and turn it into a stunning 10.5" wide by 5" deep bowl! As I begin to turn the wood, I uncover the amazing sun/starburst grain patterns hidden within, which inspired the title of this video, Turning the Dark Starburst. The natural imperfections in the wood are left intentionally to add unique character to the piece, giving it an organic, rustic feel. Watch as I reveal the process of transforming this raw, discarded wood into a usable, beautiful bowl that’s as functional as it is visually striking.
