The Truth About "Modern Idols" | Are You Committing Idolatry?

What is idolatry? Can a cell phone be considered an idol?

In the modern western world, the rituals and practices of bowing down to little statues and making offerings to "gods" is less common than it used to be, or still is today in other parts of the world. But does that mean that idolatry is no longer taking place?

Given that idolatry is one of the most common and heinous sins described in scripture, particularly in the Old Testament, we would be wise to understand what it really means.

In this video, I dive into what the Bible actually says about idolatry and how while the definition has not changed to fit our modern world, the heart issue of idolatry, exposed clearly in the new testament, is something we all need to pay attention to.

Clarification: I do believe a cell phones (along within many other "non-traditional" things) can be an idol to someone, but just because you use it poorly does not make it an idol. I don't believe we should be so quick to call our phone an "idol" because that may prevent us from taking the time necassary to examine our heart deep enough to see what's really going on in there and WHY we are going to the phone.
