Middletown, OH - Middletown officers were justified in shooting a man who shot his wife 11 times, killing her, in mid-July.

Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser announced Friday that a grand jury decided no officers will face charges for the death of 60-year-old Ronald Kerr on July 13.

Around 4:45 p.m. on July 13, Middletown police said officers were called to a home on Mohawk Street for a report of a woman who was shot by her husband.

Officers arrived at the home and started efforts to de-escalate the situation with Ronald Kerr, the prosecutor explained.

An armed Ronald Kerr refused orders to drop the gun, and the de-escalation tactics failed when Gmoser said officers heard a gunshot come from inside the Mohawk Street home.

Officers breached the door and were met by Ronald Kerr aiming his gun at them, according to Gmoser.

The prosecutor said officers shot Ronald Kerr seven times.

A loaded 9mm pistol was found near his body, Gmoser said.

Consuelo Kerr, Ronald Kerr’s wife, was later found dead in another room.

Gmoser said Consuelo Kerr was shot 11 times: once in the head and 10 times to her torso.

Consuelo Kerr’s gunshot wounds were caused by her husband, the prosecutor said.
