More than 90,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees recalled over potential loss of drive power

More than 90,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid vehicles from model years 2022 to 2026 are being recalled by Stellantis due to a software malfunction that could cause a sudden and unexpected loss of drive power.

The issue stems from an overloaded microprocessor in the Battery Pack Control Module, which can lead the Hybrid Control Processor to misinterpret signals and result in propulsion failure, potentially causing a crash without warning.

To date, there have been numerous reports and customer complaints related to the defect, but fortunately no crashes or injuries have been reported.

Dealerships will begin receiving notifications on September 11, 2025, and owners will receive official recall letters by October 23, 2025.

This situation highlights growing recall volume for Stellantis in 2025, which is grappling with quality control challenges. As reported by NPR.
