Want an Indian Flag?

The Indian flag must be made only from khadi, a hand-spun and handwoven fabric, and only authorized organizations are legally permitted to manufacture it.

The flag’s dimensions maintain a strict 2:3 width-to-length ratio, with equal-sized saffron, white, and green bands, all specified by law.

The Ashoka Chakra at the center, depicting a 24-spoked blue wheel, was inspired by Emperor Ashoka’s Lion Capital at Sarnath and replaced the original spinning wheel (charkha) in the design.

The current flag was officially adopted on 22 July 1947, just before India’s independence, and represents a secular, unifying symbol for the nation.

Displaying the flag incorrectly, such as flying it upside down, is a punishable offense according to the Flag Code of India.

The world’s largest handmade khadi Indian flag was unveiled in Leh, Ladakh, in 2021, measuring 225 by 150 feet and weighing around 1,000 kg, emphasizing khadi’s cultural significance.
