Order and entropy. We have crossed the threshold of 200 completed hours. Our project is, by definition, orderly—a precise, mathematical sequence marching toward zero. And yet, what it measures—time—is a force inextricably linked with entropy, the universe's constant tendency toward chaos and disorder.

This clock is therefore a beautiful paradox. We are using one of the most orderly systems man has devised (mathematics and timekeeping) to observe the most fundamental and chaotic process of nature. It is an attempt to impose human structure onto an inhuman, indifferent force. In this part of the project, we reflect on this tension—between our desire for order and the inevitable, entropic direction of the arrow of time.
