Paul argues that the New Covenant ministry is not just about the written word, but also about the life-giving spirit. He distinguishes between the "letter" of the Law and the life-giving "Spirit" within the New Covenant ministry. True ministers of the New Covenant are not just readers of the written word or preachers of the Gospel's bare facts. The Spirit of God accompanies the Gospel, breathing spiritual life and pointing to eternal life. Paul highlights the inherent superiority of the Gospel over the Law, as it is a "ministration of life," unfolding God's grace and Emmanuel – God with us. The Law served as a "ministration of condemnation," accusing and cursing those who failed to keep its commandments. In contrast, the Gospel is a "ministration of righteousness," revealing how God's righteousness is imputed through faith. It declares that "the just shall live by his faith," unveiling God's grace and mercy through Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and the promise of eternal life.
