The guy who directed it Mike Flanagan has a non-binary younger sibling and he's from Salem, and seems to produce a lot of Stephen King adaptations. King's novels seems to all interconnect, the character Randall Flagg, an antichrist like figure (I think Lovecraft's character Nyarlathotep is an influence) seemed to be in a few of his books, the character Pennywise is supposedly a Lovecraftian 'Eldritch' entity that appears as a clown on Earth.
