"Let's Play Two." The immortal words spoken by the late great baseball Hall of Famer and Chicago Cubs legend, Ernie Banks.

That's exactly what we are doing this afternoon here on Pacific414 Pop Talk, albeit mot on the baseball diamond. Today we are watch two great baseball films that depict both the highs and lows during the of history America's favorite past time.

Our first movie up to bat is the 1988 Orion Pictures release of Eight Men Out starring John Cusack, Charlie Sheen, D.B. Sweeney and Michael Rooker.

Eight Men Out was released on September 2, 1988 with direction from John Sayles as a period drama based on the events of the 1919 World Series where eight players from the Chicago White Sox were accused of throwing the series against the Cincinnati Reds and subsequently banned from playing the game of baseball on the major league level for the rest of their lives.

After Eight Men Out, we will take a break by looking at the scores of the current day to see what's going on around Major League Baseball before starting our second and last film.

Our second film of the show, A League of Their Own is loosely based on the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League that was founded by Chicago Cubs owner Phillip K. Wrigley in 1943 during the height of World War II.

The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League ran from 1943 to 1954 consisting of fifteen teams and was meant to supplement Major League Baseball while most of it's players were fighting in the war with an uncertainty that MLB could continue during that time.

Released ion July 1, 1992 by Columbia Pictures and directed by Penny Marshall, A League of Their Own stars Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty, and Rosie O'Donnell.

Let's all sit back, relax, grab some peanuts and cracker jacks as we head out to the ballgame by watching these two great films.
