On August 17, MPO Mondesir was parked and working on a report from an earlier call when someone approached him, informing him that a toddler nearby was not breathing. He promptly arrived at the scene and, without hesitation, took the 18-month-old in his arms and began administering aid. MPO Mondesir performed CPR for about seven minutes, aided by an unidentified off-duty nurse. Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services arrived swiftly and managed to transport the child to a hospital, where he survived the ordeal.
