About Kola Shippentower:
Kola Shippentower is a groundbreaking Indigenous leader from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Eastern Oregon. She made history in 2024 as the first Native American player for the Oregon Ravens women's tackle football team, adding to her impressive career as a professional MMA fighter, a BJJ brown belt, a Turn Up Dance Fitness instructor, and a model.
As founder of The Wisáwca Project, Kola provides self-defense and safety training for women, particularly addressing violence against Indigenous women. A mother of three and survivor, she channels her experiences into advocacy work for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIW/R).
Whether on the football field, in the MMA ring, in front of the camera, or in her community advocacy, Kola embodies resilience and determination in her mission to empower women to recognize themselves as warriors capable of self-protection and creating safer communities.
