The Justice Department's criminal investigation against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook for mortgage fraud has dealt a serious blow to her lawsuit against President Donald Trump, who attempted to remove her.
The DOJ is investigating Cook for allegedly falsifying mortgage paperwork on three homes located in Massachusetts, Georgia, and Michigan. Trump appointee Bill Pulte made the allegations and, after noticing warning signs, forwarded the cases to the DOJ. The DOJ's action refutes the allegation in Cook's lawsuit that no inquiry took place.
The Justice Department acknowledged it has launched a criminal investigation into whether Lisa Cook, the Federal Reserve's Biden-era appointment, committed mortgage fraud, putting her in serious legal danger. Cook, who has long been attacked for her lack of qualifications and political views, is facing significant charges of financial fraud for allegedly misrepresenting several residences as her "primary residence" in mortgage papers.
