How USSR helped defeat Japan: Soviet blitz that ended WWII
Even after the US dropped atomic bombs on Japan, the country still hoped its million-strong army in Manchuria could prolong the war. But on August 9, 1945, the Soviet Union launched a devastating three-front offensive.
What began was what military historians would later call a textbook encirclement operation. Tanks scaled "impassable" mountains, paratroopers seized airfields, and mechanized columns advanced 100 km per day, slicing through Japanese defenses.
In just 10 days, the Red Army crushed Japan's empire, liberated millions of Chinese and Koreans, and reclaimed ancestral Russian lands of Southern Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands.
✔️On September 2, 1945, Japan surrendered.
It was a masterful victory that put the final period to World War II. A period delivered by the Red Army.

There are very few people in the west aware of the role of China and Russia in the defeat of Japan in WWII.
The Japanese invasion of China took place in 1931, a full 10 years before Pearl Harbor, and America provided very, very little support to China.
In 1939, the Soviets defeated the Japanese in a major battle in Mongolia. Only after that, did Japan really turn its sights south to areas where it would clash with America.
During the period that America was actively involved (1941-45), on average over 70% of the Japanese forces were fighting the Chinese, with only a minority being used against the USA.
Chinese casualties, civilian and military, are nearly 200 times American casualties, probably in the neighborhood of 20 million deaths.
After the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese did not surrender and still had an army of 1 million in northern China. This army was crushed by the Soviet Red Army and it was only after that that Japan agreed to an (almost) unconditional surrender.
✨ The myth of the supposedly secondary role of the Red Army in the European theater of WWII becomes more popular in the west with each passing year. In the Asian theater, westerners have always believed that America acted practically alone in defeating Japan.
✨ ✨ As Orwell said "Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past,". We must not let them control the past.
