LINDSAY, ONTARIO (CBC) August 27, 2025: CBC writer Thomas Daigle, along with reporter Mike Crawley, give us the latest on the August 18, 2025 incident where the apartment resident, Jeremy McDonald, according to charging documents, defended himself against one Michael Breen, who broke a window to enter the apartment armed with a crossbow.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Department, headed by chief Kirk Robertson has received what CBC reporter Crawley refers to as “blowback,” not just from local residents but also Canadians nationwide. The local police union has also inserted itself into the controversy to defend the department.

Both the police department and its union have united to defend the charges against the resident, Mr. McDonald. In typical Canadian fashion, the Kawartha Lakes Police Department said the charges were "just."

One suspects the armed municipal revenuers have been "getting lip" from their subjects on the streets of Lindsay, something a "constable" is not accustomed to in Canada. It's a shame those machine-gun-proof vests and assorted Darth Vader gear don't protect the cops from their own stupidity and incompetence, starting with the chief, Kirk Robertson.

Black woman lawyer Tonya Kent is quoted in the text article and interviewed in the report to insist that the right of homeowners (and apartment dwellers) to defend themselves is not unlimited. One suspects she would be the go-to legal weasel for thugs whose home invasions have gone bad.

Your humble correspondent is reminded of a CBC interview over 40 years ago, where the late Eric Malling interviewed a member of a gang of bank robbers known as The Stop Watch Gang. The robber detailed a story about how his boys tried to rob a bank in Arizona. The bank customers and staff weren't having it and attacked the robbers. Malling said to the robber, "You were robbing a bank. Come on! It's an occupational hazard!"

Sadly no common sense exists now. Not at the CBC, or anywhere else. For balance, reporter Mike Crawley might have interviewed Polk County, Florida sheriff Grady Judd to see how he recommends his residents handle home invaders. Or of Judd was too "right wing," he could have called Orange County (Orlando) sheriff John Mina. Mina is as liberal and as pathetic as they come, but he still would have conceded that his residents would have killed the thug and, as much as he and his Soros D.A. Monique Worrell may not like it, there's nothing that could be done against them.

Ontario premier Doug Ford and federal Conservative Party leader Pierre Poillievre have issued statements of support for the resident, McDonald.

Also featured is a CBC report by Susan Harada, aired on CNN, from 1995 involving the break-in of the prime minister’s residence, where the intruder - incredibly - made it inside the bedroom of the PM, Jean Chretien his wife Aileen. The response of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was comically slow. Aileen Chretien beat the intruder with an Eskimo statue, though that detail is not contained in this report.

Bonus footage from The Simpsons, showing Homer and Waylon Smithers fighting in Mr. Burns’ office, and some shots of the Star Creek Deep Space Nine “Green” characters.

The video opens with an incident where the aforementioned past prime minister, Jean Chretien, attacked a protester who had breached the RCMP’s security cordon.

The video ends with AI voice over Amanda reminding us that the respective supreme courts in Canada and the United States have ruled that police do NOT have a duty to protect us. And when law and order breaks down, we (Canadians and Americans; a Canadian in America in the case of your humble correspondent) will quickly conclude there are more of us than there are of the criminals, more of us than there are of the cops, and we will choose to ignore the directions of our armed overlords. And when that happens, it won’t end well for anybody.

This is an experimental use of A.I. voice over. The script is written by a real human being, as is the entire production of the video. A.I. only reads it. It didn’t write it. No A.I slop here. While the text is correct, and grammatically accurate, this particular voice, Adam, seems to have a voice impediment.
