In 1978, BBC science historian James Burke was filming his famous show Connections. In one episode, he was explaining how rockets work. He used a simple example with hydrogen and oxygen, showing how they can create a powerful explosion.

As he finished his explanation, something amazing happened. Right behind him, a real rocket launched into the sky. The timing was so perfect that it looked like he had planned it down to the second.

In reality, he only had one chance to get it right. There was no retake possible, because the rocket launch could not be repeated. He carefully timed his words so they would end just as the rocket lifted off.

The result became legendary. Viewers still call it one of the greatest shots in television history. It showed Burke’s skill as a presenter and the magic of being in the right place at the right time.
