China debuts advanced hypersonic, nuclear and unmanned weapons at huge military parade

China has unveiled its latest generation of domestically produced weapons, showcasing a clear focus on unmanned systems, long-range strike capabilities, and anti-drone warfare.
The display featured a wide array of ground, sea, underwater, and aerial drones, including high-end autonomous weapons like the FH-97 unmanned combat aircraft and the GJ-13 Sharp Sword long-range strike drone.
New long-range nuclear missiles, such as the DF-61 with an estimated range of 15,000 km, made their debut alongside hypersonic missiles designed to sink large ships. The exhibition also highlighted laser weapons built to counter drone swarms, reflecting lessons learned from the heavy use of drones in the Ukraine War.
This showcase aligns with President Xi Jinping's directive for China's armed forces to prepare for 'war-fighting' and his ambition to create a world-class military.
The emphasis on unmanned systems and advanced missile technology demonstrates China's commitment to modernising its military capabilities and achieving strategic advantages in potential future conflicts.
Defence specialists note that these developments indicate China's efforts to enhance its ballistic capabilities and introduce more powerful and flexible weapons systems.
