Brother Jorge’s Reflection: Learn to Let Go

There are moments in life when holding on only causes pain. We cling to relationships, memories, or situations that no longer bring peace, but instead, weigh down our spirit. To let go is not to lose, it is to trust that God has something better prepared for us.

In Capernaum, Jesus taught lessons of humility and faith. He showed us that clinging to pride or resentment blinds us, while releasing them gives us freedom. Just as fishermen let go of their nets to follow Him, we too must let go of what binds us, to walk toward the light.

Learning to let go is not weakness; it is an act of courage. The Stoics said: “What depends on you, take care of it; what doesn’t, release it.” In faith, this means surrendering to God what we cannot control, trusting that His plans are higher than our own.

When you release what harms you, your heart becomes lighter. You can forgive, you can move forward, and you can embrace the future with hope. God’s love heals, but only when we open our hands and let go of what hurts us.
