Occam’s Razor Gardening, Cooking & Canning Ep 105

Welcome. It’s very satisfying to go in the backyard and harvest beans & carrots for supper, and choose to grab a spaghetti squash or dig up potatoes to go with it this time of year.

The hard work has paid off but still requires the effort to pick and clean up afterward. But I do put it in context with winter and fall. Everything will eventually desiccate/rot if I let the weather take care of it. Only the vines will retain fiber and seed pods through the snow. So When I harvest, sometimes I throw non-fruit/veggie parts in with the garden rather than the compost pile, which needs a serious turn over with the pitch fork.

The front zucchini has given up the ghost, and the pumpkin plants are not far behind. I don’t expect my one pumpkin will mature enough for seeds and full flavour.

Please join me in the garden.
