Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Vladimir Putin, and President Xi Jinping met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin. The three leaders showed warm gestures of friendship. Modi and Putin were seen traveling together, laughing, and calling each other “dear friends.” This display was a clear message that their ties remain strong despite global tensions.

During the talks, Putin said that NATO’s expansion must be addressed if there is to be peace in Ukraine. He used the meeting to shift attention toward Western policies. Xi Jinping also criticized what he called bullying by powerful nations, without naming the West directly. He called for cooperation, resisting Cold War–style rivalries, and announced plans for the SCO to play a larger role in global affairs.

India focused on energy and trade. Modi highlighted India’s deepening partnership with Russia, especially in buying oil. Even though the United States has shown anger and imposed tariffs, India continues to import large amounts of Russian crude.

Overall, the meeting sent a signal that these three countries want to work more closely together. They promoted the idea of a multipolar world, where power is not dominated by Western countries alone.
