Alien hand syndrome is an unusual neurological condition in which the patient's hand appears to be controlled by another person. Causes include brain separation, brain surgery, stroke, or infectious diseases.

Dr. Strangelove, the character in Stanley Kubrick's 1964 film "Dr. Strangelove," suffers from the condition and is prone to uncontrollable Nazi salutes with his right hand. It is also known as "Dr. Strangelove syndrome."
