Let’s Talk! There Is A God. Recorded 8/26/2025

Of all the Prophets in the Bible, Isaiah is a general and personal favorite. Isaiah is largely known for the number and accuracy of his prophecies about Jesus. I think George Frideric Handel (born Georg Friedrich Händel) was inspired by him also; most of the first section of the oratorio Messiah is based on Isaiah 40. On a recent Sunday morning, the verse of the day in my Bible app was verse 31: “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint (NKJV).”

But there are other verses in Isaiah 40, verses about misdirected worship resulting from disregard of God. On the particular Sunday when verse 31 was presented as the daily verse, I arrived at church having forgotten that my pastor was involved in a pre-service event with the men. So, as the time for opening prayer arrived, and it looked as though he wouldn’t, I began mentally preparing a talk, just in case, based on those other verses. I’d like to think he was as much approving as he was amused when he finally showed up, right on time, and I told him what I’d been planning.

And then, later that day, the thought came to me: why not share it with you! So, here you are! I pray that you are instructed, challenged, and inspired. God bless!

For those who don’t want one more app cluttering up their devices but who would like an online source for Bible study, Biblegateway.com has been my go-to for years. With an abundance of Bible versions in English and other languages, as well as access to concordances and other useful study aids, Biblegateway is where I go when I want to do keyword searches for those passages for which I don’t know or can’t correctly remember the exact Book, chapter, and verse. Once I find one, I can easily re-read them in various versions to get a fuller idea of the message in the passage. Even if you have a favorite app or Bible version, don’t sleep on this site!

Timcast IRL is a one of a few preferred independent sources for current news and commentary. I like that I can hear conversation and debate on the issues of the day from someone who has become adept at gathering around him people of various viewpoints, someone who is intelligent and articulate, and who fact checks himself zealously because of an insistence on being correct when he speaks. When Tim Pool is made aware that he has gotten it wrong, he promptly course corrects. I don’t have to agree with every point made on the show, but I can trust that I will usually get good information. Love hiim or hate him, Ian Crossland is someone to whom, once you have been exposed, you will struggle to remain neutral. One can find one’s reaction to him varying like the weather in some places: if you don’t like him, wait five minutes, your opinion will change. I would describe him as eclectic, and really, that doesn’t do him justice. A frequent presence on Timcast IRL, Ian also has his own pursuits, including a channel whereon he is making a name for himself.
