In yet another chapter of progressive delusion, New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has pledged $65 million in taxpayer funds to finance transgender health care programs. Presented as a supposed step forward in “inclusion,” the proposal has sparked outrage among citizens who see their money being used to pay for sex-change surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone treatments — not only for local residents but for anyone in the United States willing to travel to New York for these free services.

This announcement is hardly an exception within the Democratic Party. From national figures like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Michelle Obama, and Barack Obama, to local candidates like Mamdani, the obsession with the transgender agenda has become a top priority. Meanwhile, real issues — public safety, inflation, lack of jobs, housing collapse, and failing schools — remain unaddressed.

For Democrats, “gender-affirming care” has turned into a political religion. Instead of focusing on solutions that benefit everyday citizens, they are funneling millions into initiatives that promote radical gender ideology. Most concerning is the impact on children: minors being exposed to puberty blockers, irreversible mutilations, and classroom indoctrination under the false banner of “inclusion.”

States like Oregon have already showcased grotesque scenes: transgender activists dancing in front of Congress as if it were a political circus. Now, New York seeks to become a national destination for taxpayer-funded radical medical procedures. In practice, this means New Yorkers footing the bill for anyone in the country who wants surgery, hormone therapy, or even hotel accommodations.

The underlying question is simple: why are Democrats pushing this agenda so aggressively? To many conservatives, the answer is clear: this is an ideological movement aimed at redefining basic concepts like sex, family, and childhood, undermining the traditional values on which America was founded. Under the banner of “inclusion,” political and economic interests are being advanced at the expense of the hardworking majority.

Voters must ask themselves if this is truly the direction they want for their cities. Is it fair for funds meant to improve schools, repair infrastructure, or strengthen public safety to be diverted into experimental and destructive procedures? Is it reasonable for Democratic politicians to prioritize funding gender transitions for teenagers over fighting the crime epidemic plaguing New York’s streets?

The conservative stance is clear: reject the imposition of gender ideology in bathrooms, sports, locker rooms, and classrooms. Protect children from irreversible treatments that could destroy their futures. And above all, prevent hardworking taxpayers’ money from being used as a blank check to bankroll the radical left’s agenda.

Mamdani’s multimillion-dollar proposal only confirms what many already know: the Democratic Party has lost its way. It is no longer concerned with the middle class but has become the mouthpiece of loud minority groups demanding privileges at the expense of ordinary citizens. New York does not need a mayor funding transgender surgeries; it needs a leader who can restore safety, prosperity, and common sense to the city that was once America’s engine.
