Israeli 'annexation' cannot halt push for Palestinian state recognition: Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron has said Israel cannot stop a push towards the recognition of a Palestinian state through its expanded offensive in Gaza or by annexing more Palestinian territory.
France is one of several countries planning to recognise the state of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York, with Belgium becoming the latest Western nation to announce it would follow suit.
"No offensive, annexation attempt or forced displacement of populations will derail the momentum" towards the so-called two-state solution, Macron said on X after speaking with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

French President Emmanuel Macron has said the United States' decision not to grant visas to Palestinian officials for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly was "unacceptable" and should be reversed.
“We call for this measure to be reversed and for Palestinian representation to be ensured in accordance with the Host Country Agreement," Macron said on social platform X.

Israel confiscates massive chunk of Palestinian land in occupied West Bank
Israel has confiscated over 455,600 square metres of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank for settlement expansion, a government body said.
The Palestinian Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC) said in a statement that the confiscation came as the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was discussing a possible annexation of the occupied territory.
The commission said over 455,600 square meters of land were seized by Israel in the northern towns of Jit and Far'ata, east of Qalqilya, and in Tell in western Nablus.
Israeli authorities designated the seized territory “state land,” a term used by Tel Aviv to confiscate.
