Trump Says India Offered To Reduce Tariffs To Zero, Criticises Relations; "One-Sided Disaster" |N18G

US President Donald Trump took a swipe at India again in a post on Truth Social, claiming that New Delhi has not given appropriate business to Washington despite the US being its biggest client. He called the strained ties between the US and India a one-sided disaster, stating that India’s offer to reduce tariffs to zero came too late, and that massive tariffs had prevented US businesses from operating effectively in India. Trump also reiterated that India is buying crude oil and military products from Russia. His strong statements followed a meeting in Tianjin city between India’s PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit. In response, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said both countries will work to resolve the strained ties. Former US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan also said that Trump damaged ties with India over his family's business dealings in Pakistan.
