Pergamum is our next stop on our virtual tour of the severn churches on Revelation. The House Virtual Study Bible (https://hvsb.app/) describes it this way:

Pergamos is situated about seventy miles north of Smyrna. When Attalus III bequeathed his kingdom to the Romans in 133 BC, the city became the first capital of the new province of Asia. Its four principal deities were Zeus, Athena, Dionysus, and Asclepius. The temple to Athena Nikephoros (“Victory–Bearer”) was the most important in the city. These temples were situated on an acropolis that towered nearly 1300 feet over the lower city. Also atop the acropolis was the largest altar in the ancient world, the altar of Zeus. Some commentators have suggested that this is the “seat of Satan” mentioned in Revelation 2:13. In 29 B.C. Pergamos became the home of the first imperial cult temple built in Asia. Pergamos is the third of the seven churches address by John. Antipas, undoubtedly a leader in the church, is the only martyr mentioned by name in Revelation (2:13) Join us for the online tour.
