Galaxy Quest (1999) is a sci-fi comedy that hilariously spoofs Star Trek and fandom culture. The film follows the washed-up cast of a once-popular 1970s space adventure TV show, Galaxy Quest. Years later, they’re stuck making appearances at fan conventions and store openings—until they’re mistaken for real space heroes by an alien race called the Thermians.

The aliens, believing the TV episodes were historical documents, beg the “crew” for help against a ruthless warlord, Sarris. Suddenly, these out-of-work actors must become the very heroes they once pretended to be.

Starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and Daryl Mitchell, the movie blends clever satire with genuine heart. It’s part parody, part tribute—celebrating sci-fi fans while delivering plenty of laughs, action, and even touching moments.
