Sudan: RSF Leader Hemedti Sworn in as Leader of Parallel Government | Firstpost Africa| N18G

Sudan’s crisis deepened as Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, was sworn in as leader of a parallel government in Nyala, the de facto RSF capital in South Darfur. His deputy and a 13-seat presidential council also took the oath, formalising the rival administration first declared earlier this year. The move, rejected by Khartoum and the United Nations, comes amid a brutal civil war with the Sudanese army that has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions. With Darfur under siege and famine spreading, Hemedti’s new government raises fears of Sudan’s permanent partition.
