Title: Revelation: Two Witnesses and Seventh Trumpet Pt 10

Text: Revelation 11:1-19
Vital Verse: saying, “We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign. Revelation 11:17

Insights:
With the ambassadors removed, a natural calamity violently shakes the earth, killing “a tenth of the city” (Revelation 11:13). John reports “seven thousand” deaths because of the shaking by the earthquake—the withdrawal of the righteous set off a violent reaction. The scene is reminiscent of the departure of God’s glory (Ichabod) in Ezekiel’s vision (Ezekiel 10:18). Light departed, leaving darkness and despair. Fear consumes those that remain alive, compelling them to give “glory to the God of heaven” (Revelation 11:13). How penetrating the ascension and natural devastation on those that remained so they glorify the one they repudiate. The unexpected glorifying of God concludes the second woe judgment while anticipating the third woe (Revelation 11:19). Apparently, the conclusion of the second woe prepares for the millennium reign of Christ.
