This bunker of the German Festungsfront Oder-Warthe-Bogen (Ostwall) was built between 1937 and 1938.

All Ostwall fortifications are connected by a 32 km long underground tunnel system. On January 28, 1945, the Red Army launched an offensive on the central part of the Ostwall. After three days of intense fighting, the Russians managed to break through in the central and southern parts.

The bunker today:
Panzerwerk 717 is part of the “Ostwall Museum” and is open to the public.
