During his daily podcast (The Briefing), Dr. Albert Mohler responds to a Christian school teacher’s question about teaching gender identity from a biblical worldview. Mohler challenges the very concept of “gender identity” as a separate category from biological sex, arguing that Scripture affirms they are inseparable. For Christians, gender identity simply means recognizing and celebrating one’s biological sex as God created it.

He grounds his answer in Genesis 1 and 2, explaining that God created humans male and female for reproduction, complementarity, and to display His glory. Marriage and procreation reflect God’s design, and the man–woman union also serves as a biblical picture of Christ and the church.

Dr. Mohler also emphasizes that all of creation is marked by divinely established distinctions—land and sea, animals and humans, those in Christ and those outside. Male and female is one of these essential distinctions, a divine mandate rooted in creation itself.
