Xi and Modi are partners, not rivals, says India's foreign secretary

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to focus on partnership rather than rivalry, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Sunday (August 31). Modi is in China for the first time in seven years to attend a two-day meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation regional security bloc, along with Russian President Vladimir Putin and leaders from Iran, Pakistan and four Central Asian states.
