Trump Administration Strengthens Child Safety and Preventive Action

Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, spoke out following the massacre at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, emphasizing both the administration’s empathy toward the affected families and its concrete actions to strengthen public safety. Leavitt stated that “this tragedy is heartbreaking” and that, as a mother, she fully understands the pain parents across the country are experiencing. She stressed that the President and the First Lady have called on Americans to continue praying for the victims and their families. At the same time, she highlighted the importance of staying focused on eliminating threats to community safety. As an example, she reported that the previous night, in Washington, D.C., a minor was arrested in the 7th District on multiple charges, including kidnapping threats, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and possession of a high-capacity device, following an investigation launched over social media posts that allegedly threatened violence against a school. During the operation, seven firearms were recovered, removing from the community an individual who posed a direct risk. In line with the First Lady’s statement, Leavitt emphasized the need for preventive intervention to identify potential school shooters early, noting that in many cases the warning signs are evident, with troubling behaviors and violent threats made online. For this reason, she reiterated the call to the public: “if you see something, say something,” assuring that the administration and federal law enforcement will take such warnings seriously and treat them as law enforcement emergencies. In this way, the White House seeks to project a comprehensive message rooted in empathy for the victims, immediate action by law enforcement, and prevention as central pillars to avoid future tragedies.
