I've never had a father and I am going to be a father. What is useful advice to know going in!

As a daughter who was pampered by a loving father, the best memories I have of him are the small things he did. He always helped me choose out my birthday dress, would surprise me with a smoothie after school on the really hot days, snuck me out of lunch break to go and get pizza and eat and the local park etc. the really big moments, the ones you’ll think they’ll remember aren’t the ones they will cherish the most. It will always be the little things that make up the big things. It’s what I appreciate the most till this day and could t have asked for a more perfect dad :)

My dad used to pick me up from my mom's every Friday night and take me and my brother (my brother lived with him) somewhere special. Sometimes it was the new mall (this was the 70s) to get ice cream. Me and my brother would race our hot wheels down the handicap ramps. Or to a restaurant in town known for these giant milkshakes. Always somewhere cool and never spent much money if any but I have so many awesome memories from then.
