The story begins when Ellen is haunted by terrifying nightmares, leaving her restless at night. Her husband Thomas tries to comfort her, but soon receives an unusual task from his employer Herr Knock. He is promised wealth and promotion if he travels to meet Count Orlok, a mysterious man who wishes to buy a house in their town.

Thomas sets out on his journey, but strange omens follow him. Villagers warn him about the dark castle, and one even gives him a book about vampires. Ignoring the warnings, Thomas enters Orlok’s castle. There, he witnesses the Count’s strange behavior and unsettling appearance. That night, Orlok notices a portrait of Ellen and declares his desire for her. Soon after, Thomas realizes that Orlok is no ordinary man but a vampire. He tries to escape but finds himself weak and trapped.

Back at home, Ellen’s nightmares grow worse, and she begins sensing Thomas in danger. Meanwhile, Orlok boards a ship to the town, slaughtering every sailor on board. When the ship finally arrives, it brings not only the Count but also swarms of rats that spread plague across the city.

The doctor and his colleagues begin to notice the strange curse surrounding Ellen. They discover she cannot feel pain and is not truly sick but cursed. At the same time, Herr Knock, now fully devoted to Orlok, spreads chaos in the town.

Thomas finally returns, but he is severely weakened. At night, Orlok drains his life from afar, making him collapse in pain. Ellen cares for him but feels helpless as the Count’s power grows stronger.

One night, Orlok visits Ellen directly. He tells her she is not like ordinary humans and calls her his soulmate. He gives her three nights to decide. Either she surrenders to him, or all her loved ones will die before her eyes. Ellen is left terrified and torn.

The horror escalates. Ellen’s sister Anna is killed by rats as plague consumes the town. Friedrich, Anna’s husband, refuses to believe Ellen’s warnings and pays the price when Orlok claims his entire family. Doctors Siever and Frenz uncover strange symbols and rituals connected to Orlok, but their efforts to warn others fail.

As the deaths mount, Thomas and his companions attempt to fight back. They storm the cellar to kill Orlok but mistakenly strike Herr Knock instead. Realizing time is running out, Thomas rushes back to Ellen.

In the final confrontation, Ellen faces Orlok alone. He begins feeding on her blood, but as dawn breaks, sunlight floods the room. The light traps Orlok, and he burns to ash. Ellen, however, also dies in the process, sacrificing herself to end the curse.

Thomas arrives too late, holding Ellen’s hand as she takes her last breath. Through her sacrifice, the city is freed from the plague, but Thomas is left broken and alone. The story closes with tragedy and silence, as the shadow of Nosferatu finally fades.
