In the 1991 revised edition of Judaism, Arthur Hertzberg, ProfessorEmeritus of Religion at Dartmouth College, places The Holocaust clearly andunequivocally under "Part 6. Doctrine" of Judaism.Thus, a story whichoriginated toward the close of World War II, that the Germans had a program ofexterminating Jews, has been removed from the realmof historical debate andplaced by the rabbis "off limits" by making it a doctrine of their religion.
