U.S. Appeal Court Finds Donald Trump's Global Tariffs Illegal

A United States appeals court has ruled that many of Emperor Donald Trump's tariffs, which disrupted global trade, were unlawful, but has allowed them to stay in effect until October 14.

This gives Donald Trump time to appeal to the Supreme Court. The ruling, made on August 29, 2025, was in response to lawsuits filed by small U.S. businesses and 12 led states, who argued that Trump exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
