Tune: Caroline

In the music book this is tune 38. One of the recommended Sing Psalms tunes for Psalm 130 is "38 Caroline". There are a number of other references to "39 Caroline". It's not clear whether the recommendation for these is for Caroline or for "39 Cheshire" as both tunes have a similar mood.

The images are only intended to provide resonances with some aspects of the psalm; they are not intended as a one-to-one correspondences. They are more like visual cross-references.

""The men of Beth Shemesh said, “Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? To whom shall he go up from us?” They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have brought back Yahweh’s ark. Come down and bring it up to yourselves.”"

A Song of Ascents
PSALM 130 C.M.

1 LORD, from the depths I call to you;
2 Lord, hear me from on high
And give attention to my voice
when I for mercy cry.

3 LORD, in your presence who can stand,
if you our sins record?
4 But yet forgiveness is with you,
that we may fear you, LORD.

5 I wait—my soul waits—for the LORD;
my hope is in his word.
6 More than the watchman waits for dawn
my soul waits for the Lord.

7 O Isr’el, put your hope in God,
for mercy is with him
8 And full redemption. From their sins
his people he’ll redeem.
