In August, intense hostilities erupted along the entire front line in the Novoselovsk direction. Ukrainian military formations endeavored to impede the advance of the Russian Armed Forces toward the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

An investigation into the progression of the battles in this direction is warranted.

By August 14th, the 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces had expelled the enemy from Iskra and raised the state flags over the village. Subsequently, the forest belts between Iskra and Tolstoy were cleared by assault troops, who also established positions on the approaches to Alexandrograd.

In order to break through the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces and create a threat to Russian communications, Ukrainian formations initiated a counterattack in the area of Highway N-15. A small number of units from the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to penetrate Iskra and Tolstoy. However, these units were subsequently dispersed by UAV strikes and were destroyed.

In the southernmost region, the Russian military successfully breached the enemy's defensive lines in the vicinity of Malievka. This strategic advance led to intense combat operations in the area of Yanvarskoye and the advancement along the Voronoy riverbed. As a result of these efforts, the Russian forces successfully expelled the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the village of Yanvarskoye. The opposing forces, supported by armored vehicles, attempted to retake control of the settlement. However, these efforts were unsuccessful.

By August 27th, the 57th Motorized Rifle Brigade had successfully advanced on the southern flank, expelling the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the regions of Zaporizhzhia and Novogeorgievka.

Additionally, Russian troops advanced to secure key strongholds in the area of Kamyshovakha, significantly extending the reach of their defensive lines.

Despite efforts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to impede Russian advancement in the sector through counterattacks, Russian troops have persisted in their progress. A primary objective for the Russian Armed Forces will be to advance to the outskirts of the city and subsequently secure control of Bolshemikhailovka and the adjacent forest regions.

The strategic advantage afforded to the Russian Armed Forces by the absence of substantial population centers is a key factor in the military dynamics of the conflict. This geographical reality presents a significant challenge to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as it hinders their ability to fortify and utilize these population centers as strategic assets. Furthermore, the primary trajectory of advancement aligns with the Ukrainian Armed Forces' primary defensive line, which was established to counter attacks from the south.
