Josie's Castle - California Fever Edit (1971) Full movie | Counterculture

A trio of 20-somethings who have each recently gotten divorced decide to shack up together the loft of a Californian mansion. Various problems arise. Stars Holly Mascott, George Takei ("Star Trek") and Tom Holland (aka Tom Fielding, who went on to a career behind the camera, writing and directing the original "Fright Night" and "Child's Play" films).

Originally screened as "Grass Is Always Greener" and quickly retitled "Josie's Castle," this counterculture dramedy had difficulty finding distribution, so director Laurence Mascott (father of Holly, who'd hijacked his daughter's script and unwisely financed the movie himself) panicked and put it through a succession of re-edits, ultimately adding sex scenes and selling it as a sexploitation film. Unfortunately, the original cut has never been issued on home video, just one of the bastardized re-edits.
