Road Not Taken Syndrome

From the Lifesmith Group album, "Commentary."

Well I'm sitting here now just resting my bones
Loneliness and memories won't leave me alone
Ya know I'm torn apart, baby can't you see
Got the Road-Not-Taken Syndrome as plain as could be.

Well I haven't decided about this or that
But I know I can make it without getting fat
The road fans out like a wide delta bay
The scarecrow's crossroads or who do I lay.

Well I'm trying to weigh all the facts I'm told
Been reasoning and seasoning--I'm still confused and cold
Ya know this seeing to the future ain't so easy at all
The lady or the tiger or a gambler's bouncing ball.

Well ya know I'm finding out there's no time for everything
So fill your bag while you're on the move and you'll become a king
But which experiences mean the most, how in the hell can we say
Just take your shot, say thanks a lot, and hang it in the sway.

I've got the Road-Not-Taken syndrome, that's as clear as can be
I've been looking back over my shoulder as careful as I need
So when the night is over and the sweat's been poured and drained
Swear to me that freedom's a myth and life is just a game.
