Walking out into an open space or field on a dark, clear night reveals millions, if not billions, of stars. Quietly looking out into the vast expanse of space can bring a multitude of thoughts, emotions, and reactions. It can help us realize how awesome God is as we see his creative handiwork. It can also be humbling as we realize in all this vast universe, of all the millions of people on this earth, we are just a tiny little speck. However, it is encouraging and exciting to realize that tiny little speck is individually seen, loved, and cared for by the God who created everything.
David, as a young shepherd boy, no doubt experienced this very thing many times over as he watched the sheep at night. As he penned many of the Psalms, we see these very ideas come to life in his writings. This morning, we return to one of the Psalms of David, Psalm 8, as we continue our series, “A Hymn Of Praise.” Pastor Rick will consider the question David asks, "Who Am I?"
