Die Dampflok-Baureihe 65 - The German steam locomotive class 65 – a postwar design for the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Built in the early 1950s, these elegant tank locomotives were intended for suburban and commuter services. With their compact design and 2-8-4 wheel arrangement, the Baureihe 65 combined power with agility, making them perfect for passenger trains on shorter routes. Only 18 units were built, but they quickly became a symbol of modern German steam in the rebuilding years after the war. Though retired by the 1970s, several class 65 locomotives have been preserved, continuing to showcase the beauty of postwar steam engineering.
