In 2007, a 19-year-old interior designer named Reyhaneh Jabbari stepped into what she thought was a business meeting in Tehran. Hours later, she was arrested — accused of murdering Morteza Sarbandi, a former intelligence officer.

Reyhaneh claimed it was self-defense against an attempted assault. But her trial was marked by unanswered questions, missing evidence, and international outrage.

After seven years in prison, despite global campaigns and petitions for mercy, Reyhaneh was executed on October 25, 2014.
Her letters from prison turned her into a symbol of courage, women’s rights, and the flaws within the justice system.
